According to recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors, the organization is once again in hot water for potential tampering.

Los Angeles Lakers rumors have kept coming even with the trade deadline being behind us. However, the latest Lakers rumors are not about the roster changing. Instead, they are about the team once again being investigated.

After it was first reported that Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons reached out the Lakers about talking with Magic Johnson, the NBA is now investigating the Lakers for potential tampering.

The Los Angeles Lakers are no stranger to tampering, as they have already been fined twice in the last two years for tampering with Paul George and Giannis Antentokoumpo.

Earlier today, it was reported that Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry was fined $ 25,000 for violating the NBA’s tampering rules regarding comments he made about Anthony Davis.

But last night, Magic Johnson let it slip that he was contacted by the 76ers about the possibility of Ben Simmons working out with Magic at some point during the offseason.

Now, personally, I believe that Magic Johnson should just stop letting these things be known, especially to the public, but I digress.

The 76ers organization have come out and reported that they have just flat out said no to the idea of Ben Simmons having any sort of interaction with Magic Johnson. But, as usual, this brought up the question as to whether or not the Lakers were involved in any sort of tampering.

Monday afternoon, it was reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that the NBA is looking into the situation between Ben Simmons and the Lakers to decide whether or not any tampering rules were violated.

The Lakers have countered this by reporting that the dialogue began with the 76ers contacting the Lakers and that the Lakers were hesitant to do anything because they felt uneasy about indulging themselves in anything that could be misconstrued as tampering.

It just so happens that just like Anthony Davis, Ben Simmons is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, who seems to be at the center of every single piece of controversy surrounding the Lakers this season.

Nevertheless, it was a welcome sight seeing another franchise executive get fined for tampering over the very player that had been so heavily connected to the Lakers organization. However, if I’m Magic Johnson, I would really try to keep these things a private as humanly possible.

It seems like every single player the Lakers get linked to is part of Klutch Sports and that can often time lead to immediate speculation about any sort of tampering.
