The Los Angeles Lakers look to exact some revenge against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Staples Center.

The Los Angeles Lakers got obliterated their last time out. On Sunday evening, the Lakers were blown out of the Staples Center by the Toronto Raptors. Blowout losses happen, but when it occurs at the hands of a team playing without their best player, it hurts a little bit.

The Raptors destroyed the Lakers without the help of their big offseason acquisition, Kawhi Leonard. The Lakers will have to wait to get some revenge on the Raptors, but Wednesday night presents a chance for them to exact some revenge on another team, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Lakers have already faced the Timberwolves once this season, losing 124-120 on Oct. 29. Jimmy Butler put the Lakers away in the fourth quarter of that game, scoring 15 points. If the Lakers will have to deal with him in this matchup is anyone’s guess as Butler has been sitting out games awaiting a trade that he asked for prior to the regular season.

One issue the Lakers had in the first matchup against the Timberwolves was on the glass. Minnesota pulled down 20 offensive rebounds in the game.

Finishing possessions, defensively, has been an issue for Los Angeles all season. However, they are hoping that their newest addition can help on that end of the court.

It became official, on Tuesday, that veteran center Tyson Chandler will be joining the Lakers. Chandler agreed to a buyout with the Phoenix Suns a few days earlier. He cleared waivers, enabling him to choose his next landing spot, and that spot will be with the Lakers.

While Chandler, in his 18th season in the league, isn’t the same player he used to be, he can be a helpful addition to the Lakers. His two strengths, defense and rebounding, are areas of concern for Los Angeles. He will also give them a legitimate option behind JaVale McGee, who has had an excellent start to the 2018-19 season.

The Lakers big men will have their hands full tonight going up against Karl-Anthony Towns, Taj Gibson and Gorgui Dieng.
